Abuse Prevention & Zero-Tolerance Policy
Hugo Elite Basketball is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for every athlete participating in our programs. The safety and well-being of minors in our care is a priority, and Hugo Elite Basketball maintains a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, harassment, grooming, neglect, or other inappropriate conduct involving a minor.
1
Appropriate Conduct
Coaches, trainers, employees, contractors, volunteers, and other representatives of Hugo Elite Basketball are expected to maintain professional boundaries with athletes at all times. Appropriate conduct includes instruction and physical contact reasonably necessary for basketball training, such as demonstrating proper technique, positioning, or movement; communicating with athletes in a respectful and professional manner; maintaining an environment that is observable and interruptible whenever reasonably possible; and interacting with minors solely for legitimate coaching, training, safety, or program-related purposes.
2
Prohibited & Inappropriate Conduct
Hugo Elite Basketball strictly prohibits sexual contact or sexually inappropriate behavior with a minor; sexual comments, jokes, messages, images, or conversations; grooming or behavior intended to establish an inappropriate relationship with a minor; physical punishment or intentionally harmful physical contact; bullying, hazing, harassment, threats, humiliation, or degrading treatment; requesting or exchanging inappropriate photographs, videos, or electronic communications; providing alcohol, illegal drugs, or other prohibited substances to minors; and any other conduct that violates professional boundaries or places an athlete's safety or well-being at risk.

Employees, coaches, contractors, and volunteers may not use their position of authority or trust to establish an inappropriate personal, romantic, or sexual relationship with a minor athlete.
3
Electronic & Social Media Communication
Communication with minor athletes must remain professional and related to legitimate basketball or program activities. Staff members may not engage in sexual, suggestive, secretive, or otherwise inappropriate electronic communication with athletes. Whenever reasonably appropriate, parents or guardians should be included in direct communications involving scheduling, transportation, training arrangements, or other program matters.
4
One-on-One Interactions
Hugo Elite Basketball seeks to maintain reasonable safeguards surrounding interactions between adults and minor athletes. One-on-one training or instruction should take place in an appropriate training environment where the interaction can reasonably be observed or interrupted by others.
Private interactions with minors in isolated or inappropriate locations are prohibited.
5
Reporting Suspected Abuse or Misconduct
Any employee, coach, contractor, volunteer, parent, athlete, or other individual who observes or becomes aware of suspected abuse, inappropriate conduct, or a violation of this policy should report the concern promptly to Hugo Elite Basketball management. Immediate danger or suspected criminal abuse should be reported directly to appropriate law enforcement or child-protection authorities. Hugo Elite Basketball prohibits retaliation against any individual who makes a good-faith report concerning suspected abuse or inappropriate conduct.
6
Investigation & Cooperation With Authorities
Hugo Elite Basketball takes allegations of abuse or misconduct seriously. Reports will be reviewed promptly, and appropriate steps will be taken to protect athletes while concerns are addressed. When circumstances warrant, Hugo Elite Basketball will report suspected abuse to the appropriate authorities and cooperate with law enforcement, child-protection agencies, insurers, governing organizations, or other appropriate authorities during an investigation
Internal review by Hugo Elite Basketball is not intended to replace or interfere with an investigation conducted by law enforcement or child-protection authorities.
7
Staff Compliance
All coaches, employees, contractors, and volunteers are expected to comply with this policy as a condition of working with Hugo Elite Basketball athletes. Violations may result in immediate removal from athlete contact, suspension, termination of employment or services, and/or referral to appropriate authorities. Hugo Elite Basketball may also require applicable staff members to complete background screening, safety training, or other abuse-prevention measures as required by law, facility agreements, school/vendor requirements, or company policy.
