Hugo Ruiz
Head Player Development Coach
As a high-level NBA/Pro Development Coach with over 7 years of experience, Hugo Ruiz trains at the level where the standard is pro. Every rep maps to a role, every correction is immediate, and every week produces results you can measure—on film and on the floor. If you’re a pro, college ( D1-3, national juco, etc) high school or youth athlete serious about your game, this is where the work & development is taken seriously.
Mentored by NBA development coach Zachary Gonzales (former Lakers Player Development Coach), Hugo collaborates with him across Pre-Draft, Pro Days, and elite LMU runs—another reason his workouts meet a true pro standard. He spends each year inside the draft pipeline and pro circuits: NBA Pre-Draft with BDA Sports International (2023, 2025) and Life Sports Agency (2024); Pro Days including BDA Las Vegas, Chicago NBA Pro Day 2025, and LSA NBA Pro Day 2024; and marquee camps such as Adidas All-American Camp 2024 (Girls 3 Stripes Select) and Kelsey Plum Dawg Class 2025 in Arizona. That exposure shapes a curriculum built on what it actually takes to play at the highest level: that includes pace control and footwork, shot creation off the catch and bounce, through-contact finishing, and decision-making at game speed, tightened by film breakdown and measurable checkpoints.
Hugo has worked alongside NBA names—Danny Green, Payton Pritchard, Damian Jones, Shaq Harrison, Stanley Johnson, Egor Denim and Ajay Mitchell —also training overseas pros Benno Zecic(Europe), Daylen Williams (UK), Greg Lee (Bulgaria), and Hunter Hale (Turkey); rising college talent like Bryce Zephir(Syracuse); and elite high-school prospects like Brannon Martinsen (Sierra Canyon) and Demarcus Henry (Mater Dei). Whether preparing for Summer League, a two-way role, or a varsity rotation, athletes get role-specific plans, small/controlled groups & 1 on 1 sessions, combined with attention to detail and film study.

Hunter Hale
“Training with Hugo has been nothing short of a blessing for me. Not only does he help get the best out of me on the court, but his attention to detail and willingness to not only teach but learn as well has made working out with him a great experience. He’s become not only a great trainer but a good friend of mine as well and the sky’s the limit!”
